No I am not making my own wine now. The bottle pictured above was a present from my friends, Rob and Jackie (who creatively took a photo of my book cover and made a label out of it)!
Welcome to this eclectic edition of my blog, I’m calling New Jersey Odds & Ends. First a few updates about a couple of wineries that are “coming soon”:
- While Cedar Rose Vineyards is not open for tastings at their winery quite yet, they have been participating in a few local events (most recently at Riverwinds, last weekend). You can read my earlier post about them here: https://wp.me/p74VSa-do
- Blue Cork Vineyards and Winery just got the ok to start making their wine, so hopefully it won’t be long now before we can all taste their wines. You can read my earlier post about them here: https://wp.me/p74VSa-dy
On a more personal note
I was recently interviewed by Anthony Mazzioti, the Associate Editor for the Washington Township and Williamstown Sun newspapers, about my new book. That interview should be available to peruse in the not too distant future. I am also eager to meet with Marilyn Russell, radio personality at WOGL and award-winning creator of the Pod Cast: Remarkable Women. She also recently started a podcast called Eat, Drink and Be Marilyn, where she discusses food and drinks-related happenings in the Philly area. Marilyn will be interviewing me for the latter podcast at the WOGL studio on City Line Avenue in Philadelphia on Wednesday. Marilyn has a long-standing interest and love of New Jersey wines and has asked me to join her to talk about my book about New Jersey wine, New Jersey Uncorked: A Snob-Free Taste of NJ Wine. Check out her website for more information here: wogl.radio.com.
As noted last week, I will also be selling and signing my book on Saturday, September 8 at Autumn Lake Winery in Williamstown from 1-5. Taste some great wines, listen to the music of SweetSpot from 2-4 and say hi and chat about New Jersey wines with me. I will be selling my book for $25 (including sales tax). So save a couple of dollars on the book, save on shipping and handling costs, and get your copy personalized.
On a totally different tangent
From time-to-time, I like to give a shout out to some of my favorite new books and blogs about wine. I previously shared a few of these here: https://wp.me/p74VSa-ej.
Today I’d like to add these:
Books
- Tapping the Hudson Valley: Day Trips & Weekend Itineraries by Debbie Gioquindo This is an excellent book with key information about the wineries, breweries and distilleries in the Hudson Valley, with suggested points of interest , places to eat and stay along the way. I wish I had a copy of this book on out last trip to this area!
- Godforsaken Grapes: A Slightly Tipsy Journey through the World of Strange, Obscure, and Underappreciated Wine by Jason Wilson. This is a book written with passion and humor by a gifted writer.
Blogs
- grapevineadventures.com (authored by Katarina Andersson, a wine writer, wine educator and social media strategist) While Italian wines are her specialty, she has much to share about all things wine and social media.
- thecorkreport.us (authored by Lenn Thompson, a wine writer who writes about wines in the following regions: Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New England, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia).
Cheers!
Coming Attractions

The support I have had from you and Jackie from the start has been incredible and much appreciated. I can’t tell you how many people have commented on how cool the label is that you both made!
