Upon arrival at Jessie Creek Winery we had trouble finding anyone working there. It turned out they were all in the back room, bottling the newest vintage. Fortunately things went decidedly better from that point forward. Upon meeting Jordan, he gave us a warm welcome and a generous, guided tour through the wines available for tasting and even added a few, not on the list.
I tried the 2014 Pinot Grigio, 2013 Chardonnay, 2011 Chardonnay (the best, but also most expensive of the whites), and even a barrel tasting of the newest Chardonnay (also very good).
The Reds included 2012 Chambourcin, 2014 Merlot, Coastal Red (a blend several reds), 2013 Merlot, and a barrel tasting of the newest Merlot (oaky with chocolate notes). I want to come back when this one is ready.
Finally, I tasted their Cremant (sparkling white), Riesling, Villard Blanc (French hybrid), 2013 Concord, 2013 Cranberry (had a bit of a kick), 2013 Blueberry and 2013 Apple.
Jordan was very accommodating and generous with his time (and his pours). I was impressed with the number of varietals they offer, especially given that they have only been open to the public since 2012 and also run a Bed and Breakfast on their property in their spare time.
My favorites were their Merlots and the Coastal Red. I’d like to return and enjoy the newest Merlot or Chardonnay on their covered patio, overlooking their vineyard…perhaps for one of their “Sunday sunsets in the vineyard” or an “Unplugged Wednesday.”

Who knew my old home town State had such good wineries.

Hey Jim,
Back in the day when we wanted a cool place to have a drink there weren’t any. But things have changed dramatically. South Jersey is one of the fastest growing wine regions. Go figure. Maybe we can have a glass (or bottle) at one of them and catch up some time.
Cheers!
